2004 Lowcountry Spanish Teacher of the Year

The Citadel's Tau Iota Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, is proud to name

Maria Palma
of
Archibald Rutledge Academy

as the inaugural Lowcountry Spanish Teacher of the Year for South Carolina's Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties.  On October 12, 2004, an awards ceremony was held at The Citadel to recognize Maria Palma with a plaque and a $300 Office Depot gift card. The other two finalists, Ruth Agnes Cox of First Baptist Church School and Lieu Ha Stoddart of Goose Creek High School, were also recognized for their achievements with commemorative plaques.

A call for nominations for the third annual Lowcountry Spanish Teacher of the Year Award (2006) will be posted here in January 2006 along with all pertinent downloadable forms. The three finalists for the 2005 contest will be recognized and the awardee announced during a ceremony on October 11, 2005 at 7:00pm in the Greater Issues Room of Mark Clark Hall at The Citadel.
