The Citadel's Tau Iota Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, is proud to name

 

Elizabeth Sanderson
of
Lakewood High School

as the 2009 South Carolina Spanish Teacher of the Year. On November 12 an awards ceremony was held at The Citadel to recognize Mrs. Sanderson with a plaque and $1000.

 

María C. Hood Polo Road Elementary School in Columbia and Hollis R. Wilkes of Sara Collins Elementary School in Greenville were also recognized with award plaques courtesy of The Citadel's Tau Iota Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi.

All three finalists and their guests (one guest per finalist) received complimentary lodging the evening of November 13 and breakfast on November 13 courtesy of the
