The Citadel's Tau Iota Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, is proud to name

 

Darlene S. Whitaker
of
Great Falls High School

 

as the 2010 South Carolina Spanish Teacher of the Year. On November 11, 2010 an awards ceremony was held at The Citadel to recognize Mrs. Whitaker with a plaque and $500 courtesy of the The Citadel's Tau Iota Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi.

 

Wendy R. Girgan of Pinewood Preparatory School and Zuleika S. Hernández of Spring Valley High School were also recognized with award plaques courtesy of The Citadel's Tau Iota Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi.


All three finalists and their guests (one guest per finalist) received complimentary lodging the evening of November 11 and breakfast on November 12 courtesy of the
